When Autoimmunity and Cancer Collide – Holistic Nutrition Strategies to Support the Complex Cancer Client
Autoimmunity and Cancer are closely related and pose a challenging dichotomy – a pre-existing autoimmune condition can increase the risk and complicate the treatment of cancer. Immunotherapy cancer treatment can instigate or exacerbate autoimmunity. How to regulate the immune system to destroy cancer whilst not sending the host into a spiral of self-destruction remains a medical priority focus.
The risk for a client receiving any of the many forms of immunotherapy to also subsequently be diagnosed with at least one autoimmune condition is steadily increasing.
The likelihood that a newly diagnosed cancer client is already living with an autoimmune diagnosis is steadily rising.
This is where our holistic nutrition support can come in handy. Skillful intervention can help calm rather than fuel the client’s inner terrain to help improve immunotherapy response and the management of an autoimmune condition.
This presentation explores key target areas to focus on and practical strategies holistic nutrition professionals can apply to strengthen their clients’ inner terrain and help offset nutrition and lifestyle-related contributing factors to dysregulated immune function with a comprehensive, evidence-based approach.
