Speaker Bio

Laura Waldo is a Board Certified Holistic Nutrition® Professional and a passionate advocate for the rights of holistic nutrition practitioners. With several legislative wins achieved through strategic collaboration, committed advocates, and working with external stakeholders, Laura works at both the state and federal levels to drive positive policy change for the profession.

Her journey into holistic nutrition began when her young son became seriously ill and traditional medicine failed to provide answers. This experience led Laura to explore the power of food, eventually inspiring her to return to school and graduate from the Nutritional Therapy Association in 2013.

Before transitioning to nutrition, Laura built a successful 20 plus year career in the Information Technology sector, consulting for both government and private industry clients. Her Engineering background developed her skills in strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication, skills that now fuel her advocacy efforts.

After opening her private practice in Virginia, Laura became increasingly aware of the restrictive laws limiting the ability of holistic nutrition professionals to practice in many states. In 2017, she began her journey as a grassroots advocate. Since joining the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP) as their Legislative Affairs Specialist in 2019, she has worked tirelessly to protect and expand the rights of nutrition professionals, partnering with organizations, legislators, and coalitions to effect meaningful change.

Laura continues to see clients in her private practice. Her unwavering commitment to practitioner rights and public access to holistic nutrition makes her a driving force in the field.
